He replaces the Director in the teaching and disciplinary functions and in power to sign in case of absence or impediment, without prejudice to tasks that are not explicitly reserved to the Director by specific regulatory or legislative provision.
Gaetano Buttigè was born in Caltanissetta, where he began his musical studies under the guidance of the teacher Lia Lacagnina Migliore. He graduated from the “Vincenzo Bellini” Conservatory in Palermo with the highest score and honours at the School of M’ Vincenzo Mannino. He studied musical analysis and composition with M° Eliodoro Sollima.
He has participated in numerous national and international competitions, standing out for his interpretations rich in excellent accounting and momentum.
Since 1978 he has been carrying out intense concert activities in various Italian and European cities, constantly receiving solid acclaim from the public and critics.
In 1983 he was the winner of the “Honorable Mention” at the International Courses of Italian Musical Youth held in Bergamo by M° Marek Yablonsky of Julliard School in New York.
He has collaborated with the orchestra of the “Vincenzo Bellini” Institute in Caltanissetta conducted by M° Angelo Licalsi and M° Maria Sicari, the Academic Orchestra of Sicilian Music of Palermo conducted by M° Gaetano Colajanni, the orchestra Nuova Cameristica di Milano conducted by M° Alberto Veronesi, performing music by Bach, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Chopin.
He also often performs in chamber formations and piano duos. He is often juries of national and international competitions. For years he has been holding a Piano Improvement Course at the “Montedoro Arte” festival.
He is professor of the Chair of Main Piano, where he held the position of Director for the three years 2011/2014.
